House of Wolves,
Silencio, Paris — 21 février 2017

« Ce soir, lorsque s’ouvre le lourd et silencieux rideau rouge, c’est en duo que l’on découvre House of Wolves.
À chaque bout de la scène, entre clarté et pénombre, les deux musiciens (Rey VIllalobos et Michael Kirts) se font face et s’enveloppent du regard.
Les délicates pulsations de la batterie rythment les accords de guitare, souvent à peine effleurés et habillent la douceur des mélodies, parfois juste murmurées.
La musique d’House of Wolves s’accorde parfaitement avec l’intimité du lieu et les grands espaces qu’elle ouvre dans notre imagination. Pas de fioritures, juste l’essentiel. »

LES ESSENTIELS DE NESLES

Il y a sans doute autant d’essentiels que d’heures dans une vie.
Cette photo aurait pu être une autre.

J’aime le bordel. Ce qui bouge. Le mouvement.
C’est une sorte d’équilibre.
Trop d’organisation me rend cinglé.
Mais trop de foutoir m’étouffe. Plus d’air.Une photographie c’est d’abord un cadre, et j’ai horreur des cadres.

Ici bien sûr, il y a ce qui est montré, mais surtout ce qui est « hors-cadre », à côté, en-dessous, enfoui dans les couches, les sous-couches – pour peu qu’on ait envie d’y passer du temps.

Prendre de la hauteur c’est se libérer d’une finitude – en l’occurrence, de celle d’une photographie.
De l’air encore.

Livres, bibelots, disques, instruments, carnets, crayons, pinceaux, radio, gommes sont autant d’organismes vivants, incessamment découverts, touchés, caressés, parcourus, lus, relus, scrutés, trimballés, écoutés, aimés, choyés, utilisés, oubliés, repris. Des milliers de fois. Sans aucune lassitude. Ou parfois si. Et sans hiérarchie aucune.
C’est une succession de cycles, de priorités ou d’abandons qui cohabitent, se chevauchent, s’annulent ou se complètent.

LES ESSENTIELS DE DAVE O’GRADY (aka Seaform Green)

Gibson J45 – This is the guitar that I take everywhere, I use for every gig and is my dearest friend.
Hat – I found this hat in a lovely little shop in Amsterdam a couple years, as soon as I put it on..it was difficult to take off, so I kept it.
Headphones – No explanation necessary.
Drawing – This sketch is by Rich Robinson called ‘American Beauty’, it was very generous gift from him a few years ago. I think it is a perfect combination of beauty and ugliness.
1977 Fender Champ w/picture of myself and my mother – I got this amp for £100 on a used good website, I haven’t changed anything..it sounds killer!
Writing book w/ turquoise stone – I am always trying to take note of my thoughts, where better to take them down.
Polaroid Camera – I love this camera, It’s much more special when someone wants a photo with you and you can offer them a actual photo than a stupid selfie.
Howard Marks – Mr Nice was the first book I read for pleasure whilst working on a ship in the north sea one Christmas. A man who has led an incredibly exciting life.
Incense & Pipe – Well…its good to relax.
Oscar Wilde – His writing is humbling.
Scarf – I grew up in Dublin, Ireland. My first emotional experiences were watching St Patricks Athletic win and lose. It’s also where I learned to sing…”Oh when the Saints, go marching in, Oh..”
Vinyl (Eddie Harris) – I never collected anything, so now I collect vinyl…and Eddie Harris is wonderful musician, I was never into Jazz but he grabbed me.
